Located a short, fifteen-minute walk from the Capitol Hill Hotel, NoMa is one of DC’s coolest and most popular neighborhoods. With plenty to see, do, and eat, we whittled down our top five favorite spots in the area for you to check out:

Union Market

NoMa’s Union Market food hall is one of the city’s coolest places to spend an afternoon. The expansive, modern space is home to a number of food stalls from up-and-coming restaurateurs (we’re partial to District Fishwife’s poke bowls), as well as small kitchenware and home goods stores. Pick up some DC souvenirs and enjoy a light lunch during your trip.

A little more on the upscale side, Italian restaurant Masseria feels like a secret oasis in the midst of NoMa’s warehouse district. Hidden away in a sea of nondescript commercial storage spaces, the tasting menu-centric spot is ideal for a luxurious celebration dinner. While picking out your options from the tasting menu, make sure to try at least one of Masseria’s famed pasta dishes.

The Angelika Theatre

If you’re more about seeing edgy indie films than the latest blockbuster, you’ll love the Angelika. The small cinema in NoMA plays an eclectic selection of films that you won’t find in many other theaters. Before heading to your movie, enjoy snacks or drinks at the theater’s bar.

National Postal Museum

Situated next to Union Station, this underrated DC gem is one of the best museums to enjoy with kids (and since it’s one of the Smithsonians, it’s also free). Beyond getting to learn about the fascinating history of the postal service’s early days in America, you’ll also get to participate in interactive exhibits and see the postal service’s collection of planes.

Fans of gelato will love this huge outlet of local DC chain Dolcezza. Head over here for creamy, delicious gelato, along with an assorted array of snacks to enjoy alongside your dessert. We recommend trying out one of the gelateria’s seasonal flavors, created with totally fresh ingredients.
