A Guide To Exploring Union MarketOthers
Food hall Union Market is one of our favorite places in town to spend an afternoon, with stalls featuring everything from farm-to-table ice cream to spicy soups to healthy smoothies. Here’s our guide to the best places to eat, drink, and hang out in the area. Union Market’s ice cream shop—Trickling Springs Creamery—is one of the can’t-miss spots in the building. Stop by here for a scoop of any of the delicious, farm-to-cone flavors here, including chocolate and cookie dough, or try one of the seasonal flavors. (202) 544-0301 Stock up on some gourmet smoked goods at this luxury stall in Union Market, where you’ll find delicious, old-school fare. We love the classic smoked salmon, but make sure to try one of the sandwiches (we’re all about the smoked chicken) for a flavorful, innovative meal. (202) 543-1864 Enjoy a bowl of warming, homey soup at this stew purveyor in Union Market. Favorites here include ginger lemongrass (perfect for fans of spicy Asian cuisine), which you can pair with a number of different spring rolls, and the bone broth, served with beef, vegetables, and a mix of homey spices. Look no further than juice and acai bowl spot South Block, one of the District’s best spots for organic, fresh breakfast and lunches and the ideal place to enjoy a meal right after a workout. This beloved barbecue spot is the place to go for all things meat. Make sure to come hungry so you can try out a variety of the incredible, smoky options. Our recommendation is to go for the melt-in-your-mouth beef brisket or the barbecued chicken. 703.581.8177
