8 Reasons We’re Excited for Spring in DCOthers
Yes, it’s chilly, but warm weather is right around the corner, and our favorite season is fast approaching. Here are ten reasons we’re excited for spring in Washington, DC. DC’s beloved collection cherry trees lining the Tidal Basin blossom with soft white and pink flowers each spring, one of the city’s highest anticipated events. Celebrate the season at the National Cherry Blossom Festival this March and April. Spring marks the start of the Washington Nationals baseball season. Big name players like Bryce Harper and Stephen Strasburg will pave the way to an exciting year and possible pennant push. April marks the Smithsonian’s annual Jazz Appreciation Month. Anyone in town can check out one of many concerts that will take place throughout the month, featuring all stars like Benny Carter and Jimmy Smith. As of now, the top-ranked Washington Capitals are looking like they’ll be a force to be reckoned with in the NHL Playoffs. The end of April marks the start of the post-season action. Passport DC is a series of open houses and culturally-inspired events at the many embassies in the District. Those in town this May can travel the world by taking a short walk from the hotel to Embassy Row. Walk down U Street rocking out to funk music at this bopping parade, now in its third year. Local bands and musicians will fill the streets with the sounds of funk, go-go, hip-hop and more as thousands of marchers dance along. This spring, we are excited for a few big concerts at DC’s favorite arena—the Verizon Center. Between May and April, you can check out Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber and Duran Duran. Baseball games aren’t the only way to enjoy National’s Park this spring. Head out to the DC Beer Festival on April 16th to sample craft brews, eat at food trucks and dance to live music.
"We stayed at the Capitol Hill Hotel for 3 nights and LOVED our stay there! Staff was very accommodating, pleasant, and considerate!
