The hit ABC game show Wipeout is taking its wild obstacle course around the country this summer. For those who have watched the zany competition take everyday people and put them through the ringer on a fun, yet punishing challenge filled with giant swinging balls and death-defying giant leaps over water, this is your chance to put your skills to the test.
For the uninitiated, Wipeout is reality series that challenges contestants with what it calls the “world’s largest obstacle course.” A competition previously reserved for those chosen by the producers at ABC, the Wipeout adventure is now coming to the masses as ABC spins it off into a public event.
The Washington, DC Wipeout Run will take place on the Festival Grounds at RFK Stadium this June. (Some other upcoming events at this prized local venue include the Capitol Hill Classic 5K, the 2015 Washington, DC Electric Vehicle Grand Prix, and Carnival at RFK). By far the most daring of these events, Wipeout Run will offer participants a chance to prove their merits.
Visitors will gain access to the bizarre Wipeout course, a 5K extravaganza that will feature a variety of difficult (but safe) obstacles like soft wrecking balls, ropes courses, swings, slides and walls. If you’re in it to win it, or just want to try your hand at these fun little challenges you’ve seen on TV, this event will be a great time. (And if you’re not in it for the glory, you might want to consider joining just for the complimentary t-shirt, racing bib, silicone wristbands, and press-on-tattoo that come with registration).
Tickets for the race run at a reasonable $62. You can take on the challenge on your own, or sign up as a team with a group of friends for an outrageous day of rumbling, tumbling and wiping out!
