Drawing from a large collection of self-portraits on hand at the National Portrait Gallery, this exhibition studies how American artists have captured themselves over the past hundred years. Looking back at painted self-portraits from the early nineteen hundreds juxtaposed with selfie art and social media trends of today offers an interesting contrast. Accomplished artists like Patricia Cronin, Imogen Cunningham, Elaine de Kooning, Shahzia Sikander, and others have work featured in this exhibition. Check out Eye to I: Self Portraits from 1900 to Today next time you’re in DC.
