A cheery and patriotic tradition dating back to 1923, the lighting of the National Christmas tree in Washington, DC will take place once again this December. The event brings people from across the country for a ceremony with live music and a speech from President Obama. The event is rain or shine, so make sure to be prepared for whatever crazy weather DC might throw your way! After the event, check out the tree and the Pathway of Peace where you can catch musical performances by choirs, bands and dancers for the month it’s open. Tickets are not required to view the Pathway of Peace.
