Celebrating the Freer-Sackler Gallery’s recent acquisition of a major collection of Japanese photography, this exhibition will zero in on works from the 1920’s to 80’s. Amongst it are stunning snapshots of early Japanese landscapes, harsh postwar living situations, and a country that’s changed immensely over the last century. The images travel from rural to urban settings with a range of styles and approaches.
