This past May, Washington DC was the proud host of the most vibrant, unique and exciting 5K race and celebration in the country. Those of you who weren’t in DC for their latest edition of the Color Run, don’t worry, you didn’t totally miss out. The traveling race extravaganza will be returning to DC this coming September and it’s going to be awesome.
The Color Run is the first event of its kind. Known as a paint race, the running is as simple as a typical event— participants run a five-kilometer route. This untimed race, however, focuses less on competition and more on fun. Runners wear white clothes and get doused in different colored paints each kilometer. The end result is a collection of rainbow-decorated people stimulated by a day’s worth of exercise and joyous from the amazing visual spectacle the event creates as a whole. The Color Run is properly referred to as the happiest 5k in the world.
Celebrating artistry through color, health through exercise and globalist motivations through millions of dollars in charity donations, there are only positive influences associated with this event. To spread the joy, Color Run travels the country throughout the year. Color Run’s popularity is evident in its evolution to become the largest event series in the country.
Color Run will be returning to Washington, DC on September 28. Do not miss out, as this traveling series is fleeting. DC’s race in May was a blast for those who participated and the Color Run team, so the same can be expected this fall.
It’s safe to say that there is absolutely nothing like this interactive, fun-filled event. Surround and cover yourself with colors to take part in one of the biggest collaborative art projects and communal races ever known. Color Run’s pictures alone are enough to take your breath away, just imagine throwing yourself right in the middle of it!
